Toyota certification can be achieved online.

Mechanics interested in working at Toyota dealerships must be certified. Toyota has teamed up with schools across the nation to offer the Toyota Technical Education Network (T-TEN) certification program for mechanics. The program allows students to gain needed experience to pass an examination administered by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). In addition to passing the exam, students must have two years of hands-on work experience in the automotive industry. Toyota certification tests can be taken online.

Instructions

Attend the T-TEN program at a school near you. You can find a complete list of schools that administer the program by visiting Toyota.com. The costs varies from school to school. Many schools offer financial aid or tuition assistance to qualified students.

Register for the test at ASE.com. Provide your work-experience information when you register. High school and college training credits can be substituted for work experience. The Toyota exam is only given on certain days. For example, in the summer of 2010, the computer-based Toyota certification exams were offered July 16 through August 23. If you miss the online exam dates, take a written test at an approved test location near you.

Take the official practice test. Online practice tests offer a chance to familiarize yourself with the ASE test style and type of questions to expect on the official exam. The practice test provides feedback and explanations for incorrect answers.

Return to the ASE website to take the Toyota certification test on the designated date. Once you pass the exam, you will receive certification and eligibility to work at Toyota, Lexus or Scion dealerships.
